Students will be able to use a wide range of Art and Design resources and will attend seven teacher-led lessons each fortnight. Candidates must be prepared to spend a considerable amount of their own time working on each practical unit of work.

‘A’ level Art is an extremely demanding course where students are expected to work independently in response to a chosen starting point. Candidates need to have a genuine interest and enthusiasm for the subject and will need to spend a great deal of time outside of the lesson developing their portfolio of work, keeping a visual diary, visiting galleries, exhibitions etc.

(AS) Components

1 – Portfolio Work

A wide range of themes and art techniques will be covered and students will be required to submit a final portfolio of work

2 – Externally Set Assignment

A range of questions is set by the exam board (AQA). Time is allowed for preliminary studies and students have a 10 hour controlled test to produce a final piece of work.

(A Level) Components
